Hi, I'm Vannesa!

Hey, Loves!

So, I've noticed I've gotten some new followers lately (yay!), and I wanted to come on here and answer some of the questions that I get asked frequently for y'all to get to know me better!

Sweater: Poppy Clothing | Jeans: Express | Belt: Amazon | Purse: Tory Burch | Shoes: Sam Edelman

If you're coming from Instagram, you might have noticed I filmed a story earlier a couple of weeks ago answering these questions. Maybe you missed it, or would like to hear my responses in more detail, so here it is.

Question #1: @vegalizzz and @ohlafemmeblog asked, "What/who inspired you to become a blogger?"

So, this question is always a tough one to answer, because there are so many reasons I started the blog. I have always loved putting together outfits. I remember being in elementary and stealing my older sister's shoes to "look cute" even though they were 3 sizes too big for me at the time. My sister is 5 years older than me hahaha. But I didn't care. I was willing to risk tripping on my own feet if it meant I'd have fashionable outfits. My love for fashion continued all the way through high school and college, so it was a given that I had to start sharing with others. I followed a bunch of fashion bloggers on Pinterest, and the one that I was super obsessed with was Kate with Lone Star Southern. I loved pinning all of her outfits on Pinterest, and through her blog I was able to find many other of the bloggers that I follow (and have met, eeeek!) today. I started sharing some fashion related pictures on my personal Instagram, and then finally decided to open an account dedicated to outfits and inspiration to others.

My #1 mission when I started that Instagram was to find affordable options and dupes for all those people who are on a budget like myself. It was extremely discouraging when I would see super cute pieces on bloggers, and "like to know it" only to find that the top they were wearing cost $250 alone... How was little old me supposed to afford something like that!? So, I really want my blog to be a place that everyone can go to knowing that they can easily access and afford the items that I talk about.

So, for those of you who don't know, I was fortunate enough to be able to host an event with local boutique Poppy Clothing and Janine from Bell Sleeves and Bellinis. It was an amazing experience, and it was so encouraging to see how many local bloggers and other girls support us. I was able to make amazing friends from this event alone, and made awesome connections with vendors like Houston Flashy Photography, Oh My Sweets, and Xaibe Boutique. I 100% want to host another event like that again. I don't have anything planned now, and it will probably have to be in the summer once I gain my sanity back from school. I will for sure keep y'all updated!

Question #2: @thelanline asked, "What part of Houston do you live in? What is your major?"

I am from the North East part of Houston (aka nothing here, and no one ever goes past downtown). There's pretty much a movie theatre and Apple Bee's for our entertainment. The area is growing rapidly, though, which is something I'm looking forward to in the future! Thank God for Marshalls across the freeway, because that's where my mom, sister, and I spend 99% of our time.

As for the second part of that question, I am currently a junior at UH majoring in Accounting. A little backstory -- I originally wanted to be a nurse.. Let's just say when I found out that I pass out at the sight of blood, I decided it was best for me to change my major completely. I am SO glad that I did, because I have gotten amazing opportunities ever since. It just goes to show you that sometimes a change is exactly what you need sometimes. I was given the opportunity to intern two times and I am getting ready for a third in this upcoming summer! I'm not going to lie, Accounting is tough, especially when it's been awhile since you've taken the basic courses, but I am determined to push through and become a CPA. If you'd like to hear more about my major and career options under this major, just let me know!

Question #3: @realandrad_ asked, "What's your favorite clothing store?"

This was a hard question, because I can't ever pick just one! If I have to choose thought, it'd be Forever 21. Being a blogger means keeping up with the latest trends, and sharing with everyone before it goes out, so my go-to store to find trendy and affordable pieces would be Forever 21. It is such a drag to shop in-store, so I will always stick to shopping online! It can get overwhelming sometimes, so I recommend knowing exactly what you are on the market for, and sticking to it. This way you can quickly search for what you need, and see those items only rather than getting distracted by millions of other clothing. It is super important to me that my followers and readers have all have access to items that I show on the Gram, so it is great that Forever 21 offers such cute pieces for super affordable prices. I also love Express for jeans, and recently discovered the petite heaven on ASOS. I ordered my first two pair of pants from them a couple of weeks ago, and it was instant love. So, if you're a shortie like I am, I definitely recommend checking their pants out!

So, this post really long, really quick! It is always so much fun getting to know y'all, and it was great having some of you get to know me a little better through my Instagram stories. I hope that this post gives you a little insight of who I am, and that you learned something about me! I would love to learn something about you, so leave your comments with a fun fact about yourself down below!

As always, thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog. It means so much! I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it for you!

XOXO,

Vannesa
